She's coming--again (and again!)

This blog has been hijacked by a space pirate. And now a word from Ms. Brandi Whyne:

Heads up, darlings... I've whipped my ghost writer Celine into shape and told her to get back to work on my memoirs. Two more chapters are currently in the works. Tentative release date of the first title is August 15, 2015 from eXtasy Books.

Chapter 8 is entitled Brandi Courts Disaster and takes place on Old Terra in the court of King Ricardo the Party Pooper. Doctor Who, Star Trek, MST3K, Babylon 5...So many fandoms, so little time!

It's like...Nerdvana.

A place where only a science fiction/fantasy fan would dare to tread...A room full of photos and original artworks and figurines and statuettes and autographed books, cards, pictures and even comic books. Yes, it's my new office. And I love it.

I am a card-carrying nerd. I even have the fan club card to prove it! I actually belonged to the original Findlay College Sci-Fi Club. I'm not sure if the club is still in existence, but the school is now called "University of..." and has a lot more students, so perhaps they have an anime club at the very least? It would be nice to find out if they're any Whovians attending currently.

And I have proof of being a nerd since...forever! Notice my 8th grade card. All A's and nice comments in English and Social Studies. Okay, I got a B in P.E. Yeah, I showed up to gym class, but I was probably bored out of my gourd most of the time and sat in the corner reading a book--a classic sci-fi novel probably. (I was big into H.G. Wells and Robert Heinlein about that time.) That's a nerd for you!

It's been fun traveling down Memory Lane while we unpack and move into our new digs. In the bottom of long-ago packed boxes I've found my autographed photos of Colin Baker (The Sixth Doctor), Anthony Ainley (The Master) and George Takei (Sulu). My hubby and I have had a great time trying to find places to show off our favorite SF artists' creations, too. We have three Tempest at Hazard prints from Paul Daly hanging in the office and two Jon Kaufman's hanging in the living room. Nerdvana just keeps growing and going... and even in the more "mundane" rooms of our home there's usually a nod or two to our passion for SF fandom. Because once a nerd--always a nerd!

A "Pair-of-Docs" by Jon Sies and "Little Horsie Who #6" by Michelle Rondeau. Some original art I haven't been able to hang on the wall for years. Now I have a whole room (and more) to hang all my favorite SF inspired artworks!

Book Review: Space Captain Smith

If you're looking for a good time sf/fantasy read without a lot of heavy thinking involved, look no further than to Toby Frost's Space Captain Smith. The first of a series, Isambard Smith's saga is full of farce and fun, puns and double entendre galore. Smith longs for a space command but when he's given a spaceship (from the bottom of the heap of course) and a female simulant pilot named Pollyanna (with a very shady past), he chooses to take along his head-hunting warrior alien friend Suruk for back up. Wise plan it is, too, as those nasty space ants, The Ghast, want his passenger, space hippy Rhianna, for their own evil purposes to dominate the galaxy. Fortunately for Captain Smith even though Rhianna is a pacifist she's got her own special means of self-preservation. For those who think the sun never set on the British Empire--instead it headed for the stars and did its best to "civilize" the rest of the universe with tea and handlebar moustaches--the Space Captain Smith series will provide just the right amount of comedy, adventure, and "moral fibre" to entertain. So...how about a cuppa?

Happy Naughty New Years!

We've made it through the Mayan apocalypse... We're still struggling with the economy and other weighty matters, and we've still got the majority of the winter to get through (at least in the northern hemisphere). Thank the stars 2012 is now behind us!  Cue the music--it's time to party like it's 2013!

Some folks suffer from triskaidekaphobia or the fear of the number thirteen. I'm not one of them. I figure we've had enough bad luck already this past year, so 2013 is going to be worth the wait.

New Year's resolutions? I have a few. I hope I can meet them with a minimum of fuss. One resolution is to finish up my current naughty work-in-progress entitled Blood in Berlin. It features the vampire Edwin Carstairs. Blood in Berlin takes place on the eve of World War II. Edwin is recruited to stop an evil and kinky Nazi scientist named Madame V. The genius blonde bombshell has tricked Edwin’s former lover, Ophelia Jones, into helping her create super soldiers with paranormal powers... Will Edwin be able to rescue Ophelia and stop Madame V before all out war begins? 

Edwin Carstairs is my idea of a vampire hero. Edwin can also be found in my latest release from eXtasy Books, Blood Bond . Although he is transformed from mortal to immortal at the  young age of 23, Edwin is all man. He enjoys his bedroom romps with his lovers Ophelia and his vampire sire, Hamlet. When a vampire hunter threatens their safety, he doesn't cringe or stay away from danger. He faces it head on.

I love stories about good ol' fashioned vampires who suck blood and are wonderful lovers. They don't need to do much else to make me happy, but if they can transform or shapeshift into creatures of the night, so much the better. The one thing they don't have to do is remain chaste until their wedding day or look extremely anemic or pretend to be Tinkerbell. After all, they're powerful paranormal heroes--they're drop dead gorgeous! Their lovers can't wait to experience that first bite, so Why should any vampire look like he needs a blood transfusion? Come on!

After Edwin is let loose on the unsuspecting public (Bwahaha!), I'm not sure what my next naughty work-in-progress will be. I'd like to finish up my Brandi Whyne and Her Incredibly Erotic Adventures saga, but current sales don't motivate me to want to spend time on something I'm not sure will sell. But Brandi is a very dominant character and she doesn't want to leave me alone... She wants her tale of sex, space adventure, piracy, more sex, romance, group sex, rollicking action, occasional spanking, more sex, and a happy ending to be told. Given that, I guess I'll let Brandi take over my consciousness and pen the remainder of her tale. Perhaps in 2013, readers of comedic-erotic-space opera will spring forth from the sidelines and make Brandi a Kindle best-selling title after all? I just have to have a bit of faith, right?
