Well, Western civilization departs from the written words and turns to the images on Snapchat, etc. Facebook will replace the mewspapers, movies on television will replace books. Ability to read becomes a privilege. But, who knows, it might not be so bad? ;)
To look at it from another angle, in order to read things online and to send texts and leave comments on blogs, you have to have some handle on language. So there is "reading" happening out there, but do most "readers" read more than 140 characters at a time nowadays? That's the question! ;)
